Default RIP Dennis Ritchie

I figured I'd post this here since his death has pretty much been shadowed by Steve Jobs at the moment. I have nothing against Steve Jobs I just think it a shame such a pioneer goes unnoticed.

Dennis Ritchie the father of modern programming died October 12, 2011.

Dennis was the designer of the C programming language; he also had a key role in developing it alongside Bell Labs. C is possibly the most widely used programming language today. It has also influenced a great majority of other modern programming languages.

Dennis also played a role in the development of UNIX-- the father of most modern operating systems.

You can read more about Dennis Ritchie on Wikipedia and on his Bell Labs page.

I think it's safe to say that without Mr. Ritchie's contributions to Computer Science we wouldn't be near where we are today.
